Tuning In: CANCELED
March 21 @ 5:00 pm - March 23 @ 2:00 pm
Dear Friends, due to a change in circumstance for our retreat facilitators, the retreat has been canceled.
Please stay in touch, as we will reschedule when we are able.
Music, song, and chanting can be a wonderful practice opportunity and a vehicle to offer our communication, aliveness, healing and connection. Together, we will cultivate curiosity about our individual and collective conditioning, exploring the courage to step forward and/or the humility to step back in musical community. We will Honor the voices that we have. You are invited to join recording musical artists, Order of Interbeing practitioners Lynn Deeves and Honey Bear for a weekend of joyful practice, inquiry and heart-song as we co-create the possibility of accompanying and befriending our inner and outer voices. Musicians of all levels are welcome to attend, as together we put the “play” back into “playing” music.
Practices will include:
- Sitting meditation
- Walking/movement meditation
- Mindful eating
- Chanting
- Deep Relaxation
- Circle Sharing
- Loving Speech/Deep Listening
- Musical Prompts/sharing
Also at this retreat, practices may include:
- Touching the Earth
- Embodied exercises
- Dyad sharing
- Journaling
- Deep Looking
- “Be-In”/ “Happiness Gathering”
Retreat Facilitators:
Lynn Deeves is a mindfulness practitioner, OI member & Maine-based, singer-songwriter. Music has been a constant from the 1980’s top 40 rock stages to the release of “Songs from a Peaceful Heart,” recorded at Morning Sun with soulful and heartfelt contributions from Michael Ciborski, Lark Holmes and many lay/monastic friends. Lynn weaves music into her 2 home sangha’s and is recently retired from teaching 3-5 year old children with special needs. She has co-lead retreats in Maine, NH and Vt. Dharma teacher/NVC trainer Peggy Smith shares: “Songs from a Peaceful Heart was the only music that my nervous system enjoyed during the pandemic/lockdown.” https://lynndeeves.hearnow.com
Gary Brain, often to referred to as Honey Bear lives in Morning Sun with his best friends Mary Beth and Jaxi. He practiced for many years in the Bay Area and was ordained an OI member in 2009 as a sibling in the Mountain family. Music gave form and voice to feelings and thoughts he didn’t know words for. He has practiced with The Guitar Circle of North America and played backing moods to countless events, tracks, and campfires.
Registration is closed as the retreat has been cancelled.
