Love in Action
Morning Sun is opening its doors to invite friends to explore the topic of love in action, experience the joy of daily practice, simple living, friendship, and mindful working during the month of July.
This retreat is a chance to be of service together, with a light formal practice schedule and a stronger working element than most retreats. Exploring how we can bring our deeper understanding and compassion into our work in the world.
Our day will begin with sitting, stretching, chanting, and a teaching based on the 14 Mindfulness Trainings of the Order of Inter-being, guidelines for an engaged mindful life written by Thich Nhat Hanh.
Most days we will have 5 hours of mindful working: cooking meals, making garden beds or building. Together we’ll develop our practice of working in a relaxed way with mindfulness, and experience our love in action by creating spaces at MorningSun where many adults and children will come for nourishment and healing in the future.
We will take one field trip each week that will include a hike and an exploration of “love and action” by visiting and learning about the inspiring and compassionate work of several businesses and non-profits nearby to MorningSun.
During free time and lazy days one can swim, canoe, hike, rest or visit nearby towns.
You are invited to join us for 1 week, 2 weeks, and/or stay on for our annual Wake Up Retreat (for young adults ages 18-35ish) and All Ages Retreat.
Most of us will be camping, with a few rustic rooms available. Healthy vegetarian meals will be served from our outdoor kitchen and usually eaten on the beach. Outhouses and solar-hot-water-showers will be available. Gatherings will be held in our straw-bale meditation hall.
The summer opening is offered on an honor-based sliding scale. In determining your level, please be aware that your financial contribution is very important to making this beautiful place and programing possible.
WEEK ONE: July 9-16, sliding scale: $140 – $350 per person per week
WEEK TWO: July 16-23, sliding scale: $140 – $350 per person per week

If you wish to stay on in between the Wake Up and All-Ages retreats (July 26-30) please let us know and make an additional contribution ( sliding scale: $60-$100 ) This will be a quiet restful four days, with a lot of free time and shared cooking, which will complement the very full schedules on the two weekend retreats.
Please do not let finances deter you from attending the retreat. We offer two levels of scholarship, one at 25% and one at 50% of the total cost of the retreat.
