February 14 Online Afternoon of Mindfulness (special session)

February 14, 2021 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Celebrating Spiritual Qualities of Love
A Dharma Date with Ourselves  –
Opening our hearts to love as a source of happiness

With Sangha Offerings from Morning Sun residential practitioners and Dharma Teachers Michael Ciborski and Fern Dorresteyn.

The Dharma offers us many practices to support our capacity to love: ourselves, those close to us, and the world.

Schedule (Eastern Time, Turtle Island/USA):

  • 3:00 pm: Welcome to the Sangha (login encouraged 10-15 minutes earlier)
  • 3:10 pm: Guided Meditation
  • 3:30 pm: Dharma Offerings by Dharmateachers or Sangha Facilitators
  • 4:00 pm: Total Relaxation
  • 4:20 pm: Stretch and make tea
  • 4:30 Tea Meditation
  • 5:00 pm: Closing in Stillness, honoring, quiet goodbyes

During this program we will explore some of these practices offered by the Dharma. We will begin with cultivating the capacity to love and hold ourselves just as we are right now, with all of the things that we like, all of the things that we do not like, and letting go of the desire to change.  We will open to a love with tenderness that does not judge based on things like material possessions, work or success; a love that shines like a warm sun inside us without any discrimination.

We do not need a partner or family to offer us this love, it can be found inside of us. We are enough. As we develop this love inside, we can also cultivate it for others, offering our warmth, kindness and joy.

Tea Meditation:
We will also have a chance to celebrate the spiritual dimension of love in a tea meditation. During this open sharing time you may share a favorite poem or song written about the practice of love, or share a short personal experience of how you cultivate love.

This afternoon of practice will be shorter than our usual Day of Mindfulness because MorningSun will be supporting the annual New England Regional Retreat (online) the following weekend. This retreat is open for everyone, no matter your geographic location.
